Woman lends a glow to life, love, honour and faith,
She's the pride of youth and beauty, fountainhead of grace.

She's the mine of virtuous honour, of shyness, self-esteem,
A guiding star for every man, a shining spirtual gleam.

Without her presence the world would be a sad and weary place,
But for her every home would seem a barren waste.

Woman is the flaming brand in the Nature's hands,
She's innocence incarnate on this dusty strand.

Without commanding armies she rules over the earth,
Without carrying a sword she can wound and hurt.

Somewhere innocent infants are by her songs cajoled,
Somewhere bubbling youth is feted on her bowl.

Helpless age from her talk somewhere strength receives,
Sometimes someone at her feet finds a quiet release.

When she weeps, the universe brims o'er with tears,
When she smiles, nature too brightens up and cheers.

Why comest thou to tease us love, why arouse the slumbering folks?
Torment us not with more of grief, We're already sorrow-soaked.
Enough are the slings of fate, why invent new fatal strokes?
But not cruel, relent I say,

Both of us have lost our peace ever since we met,
Cheecks have lost their morning blooms, eyes their evening calm have shed,
Hands have dropped the cup of joy, lips of smiles stand bereft;
Do not with newer aches assail,

We keep awake and weep at night, pray to God with tearful eyes,
With aching hearts, abstracted gaze, we beat our head and loudly sigh,
Oh, what a strange disease is love, we neither live nor die;
